Learn how to create compelling sermons using PreachPilot's powerful creation tools.
Creating a New Sermon
There are two ways to create sermons in PreachPilot:
Manual Sermon Creation
- From your dashboard, click "Create a new sermon"
- Leave "AI Assist" toggle OFF
- Fill in the sermon details:
- Title: Your sermon's title
- Scripture: Bible passage reference
- Big Idea: The main message or takeaway
- Category: Choose from predefined categories
AI-Assisted Sermon Creation
- From your dashboard, click "Create a new sermon"
- Toggle "AI Assist" ON
- Fill in the generation prompts:
- Topic/Theme: What your sermon is about
- Scripture: Relevant Bible passage
- Description: Additional context for the AI
- Click "Generate Options"
- Review the 3 AI-generated sermon options
- Select your preferred option
- Click "Create Sermon"
AI-Generated Sermon Structure
When using AI assistance, your sermon will be created with:
- Introduction block: Opening thoughts and context
- Main point blocks: Individual sections for each key point
- Conclusion block: Closing thoughts and application
Creating Sermons from Templates
- Navigate to the Templates section
- Browse available templates by category
- Click on a template you'd like to use
- Click "Create Sermon from Template"
- Customize the title and details
- The sermon editor opens with the template structure pre-loaded
Adding Sermons to a Series
During Creation
- When creating a sermon, look for the "Series" dropdown
- Select an existing series or create a new one
- The sermon will automatically be added to that series
After Creation
- Open the sermon in the editor
- Use the series selector in the sermon details
- Choose the series to add it to

Planning Your Message
- Start with a clear big idea
- Choose scripture that supports your main theme
- Consider your audience and their needs
Using AI Effectively
- Be specific in your topic descriptions
- Include relevant context about your congregation
- Review and customize AI suggestions to match your voice
Organizing Content
- Use the block system to structure your thoughts
- Each main point should be its own block
- Include illustrations and applications
Managing Your Sermons
Finding Your Sermons
- All sermons appear in the main Sermons section
- Use the search function to find specific sermons
- Filter by category, series, or date
Editing Sermons
- Click on any sermon title to open the editor
- Changes are automatically saved
- Use the block system to reorganize content
Archiving Sermons
- Click the three dots menu on any sermon
- Select "Archive" to move it out of your active list
- Archived sermons can be restored later
Troubleshooting Common Issues
AI Generation Not Working
- Ensure you're on a paid plan (PreachPilot or PreachPilot+)
- Check that all required fields are filled in
- Try simplifying your topic description
Can't Create New Sermons (Free Plan)
- Free plans are limited to 1 active sermon
- Archive your current sermon to create a new one
- Or upgrade to a paid plan for unlimited sermons
Sermon Not Saving
- Check your internet connection
- Refresh the page and try again
- Content is auto-saved, so recent changes should be preserved
